Where little days are big.

Hopscotch is a licensed preschool and daycare in a sunny converted house on Sycamore Lane. Infants through pre-K, a shady play yard, and teachers who know every lovey by name within a week.

The Hopscotch play yard in morning sun: climbing structure and tricycles
Programs by age

Four rooms, one gentle ramp.

Every room runs the full day, Monday to Friday. Move-ups happen when your child is ready, not when a birthday says so.

Infants

6 wks to 18 mo · 7:30 to 5:30

Days run on your baby's schedule: naps on demand, floor time, and a feed-by-feed report worth reading.

Toddlers

18 mo to 3 yrs · 7:30 to 5:30

Language everywhere: songs, signs, and a hundred narrated small victories, including the potty.

1:5teacher to kids

Preschool

3 to 4 yrs · 7:30 to 5:30

Play with a plan: blocks that are secretly math, paint that is secretly patience, friendships with names.

Pre-K

4 to 5 yrs · 7:30 to 5:30, half days offered

Kindergarten readiness without flashcards: letters, numbers, scissors, zipping your own coat.

The rhythm

A day at Hopscotch.

The rhythm is the curriculum. Here is a normal Tuesday.

Our teachers

The people your kid will quote at dinner.

Dana Whitfield, director, holding picture books

Dana Whitfield

Director · Pre-K lead · 14 years · CPR + first aid

Now teaching the younger siblings of her first Hopscotch class, and not emotionally ready to discuss it.

Marisol Vega

Toddler room · 9 years · CPR + first aid

Fluent in Spanish and in toddler, in that order.

June Park

Infant room lead · 11 years · CPR + first aid

Settles crying babies with a hum you will catch yourself using at 3am.

All staff background checked, CPR and first aid certified, re-trained each spring. Pictured: Dana.
The honest stuff

Food, naps, and the honest stuff.

What we serve

Lunch is cooked in our kitchen: real food, low salt, cut small. Menus post Mondays, always with a plain option for picky weeks.

Allergies

Nut-free building, full stop. Allergy charts post at every room door, and every teacher knows the epi-pen drill cold.

How naps actually work

Lights low at 12:30, white noise on. Babies sleep on their backs in bare cribs. Non-nappers rest twenty minutes, then get books. Nobody is forced to sleep.

Potty training

You start at home, we run the same script here. Wins celebrated, misses kept boring, daily notes so nobody restarts from zero on Monday.

Safety and licensing

The unexciting things we are excellent at.

Ratios above the minimum

We staff above state minimums and post each room's count at the door by 8am. Count heads on your tour, we expect it.

Secure entry

Coded door, sign-in kiosk, pickup only by adults on your list. ID checked every time, even grandparents we adore.

Photos during nap, not play

Updates post to the family app at nap time, so teachers' eyes stay on kids, not phones.

Licensed and inspected

License #ED-30412 by the front door. Latest inspection: zero findings. Ask to see the report, we like handing it over.

Enrollment

Three steps, no mystery.

1

Tour

Thirty minutes, any weekday morning, kids welcome. See every room, meet teachers mid-chaos, leave with the rate sheet.

2

Paperwork

One packet: enrollment form, immunizations, and a page about your child: favorite words, sworn vegetable enemies, comfort moves.

3

A short first week

Three half days before the first full one. Gentler on kids, gentler on you. Tears at the door (yours) are normal.

We toured five schools. Hopscotch was the only one where the director sat down on the floor with our daughter before she shook our hands. Priya · toddler and infant rooms
